We worked with St Andrews Church from the initial consultation to upgrade their current PA system which was having trouble with loud pops and fizzing. At the same time, they wanted to get a visual system installed along with the facility of having the internet available in the main church as well as the church hall.

We broke the project down into 3 manageable phases starting with Sound, then working on the internet and finally focusing on the visual system to allow time for faculty applications to be reviewed and approved. We provided the church with necessary documentation and proposals to assist with their faculty applications demonstrating cable runs and impressions of how the equipment would look fixed into the church.

We started by placing an order for a lockable mixing desk cabinet on wheels allowing the church to unplug and move the system when necessary with ease. Located on the wall was a custom fabricated I/O box designed by us allowing for simple patching into the church AV system. We installed 6 DAP top speakers and 2 DAP Subwoofers all in colours that would blend into the church setting. We also installed a Behringer X32 compact mixer along with a digital I/O stage box located at the front allowing for the church band to be plugged in at the front. This was enclosed in a custom plywood casing matched to the colour of the pews to blend in. The mixer allowed for wireless control via an iPad allowing the vicar to control the sound from the front when needed. Three new Sennheiser XSW microphone sets (1 Handheld & 2 Lapel mics) were provided with a fixed antenna on top of one of the beams to ensure the best signal was picked up during a service.

Our second phase was to provide an internet connection into the main church hall. After line checks, the current phone line into the church hall was not able to be improved with its current connection nor was a new fibre line available. Therefore we opted for a 5G connection instead which would obtain a connection via a SIM Card through the mobile networks. After a network survey, we were able to determine that this was a viable option. We put the church in touch with MCL Telecom who are a trusted provider of ours to purchase their 5G router and set up their SIM contract. Once we were informed the equipment had arrived, we got to work! We installed 3 access points on the premises. One was affixed into the main church painted in black in order for it not to stand out. We were faced with the challenge of sharing the connection between the main church and the church hall without using a physical cable. Therefore we installed a compact wireless bridge outside the church hall which picked up the wireless signal from the main church and redistributed it to 2 more access points within the church centre building. The system is remotely monitored allowing for any faults or amendments to be made with ease and in a timely manner.

Lastly once the faculty was approved for the visual system, we got to work installing a projector and relay screen. It was a requirement that the screen was not to be visible when not in use. We fitted an electric drop down screen behind the beam at the front of the church allowing for the screen to be retracted once finished with. An Epson 4600 lumen laser projector was installed with and HDMI input allowing for standard protocols to be connected to the system. Additionally we installed a 32" relay monitor at the rear of the church in the children's area which allowed those who couldn't see the main screen to see on the monitor instead. All cabling to the projector and screen was run over CAT5 cable ensuring as minimal cable tread as possible.

The church were very pleased with the works carried out and put the system to test by successfully hosting their first evening jazz concert in August 2025 which was a huge success.
