Horley Methodist Church
Replacement Sound System & Visual Upgrade
Horley Methodist Church approached us in late 2025 asking us to visit to quote for a new audio and visual system. We visited the church and went through some ideas and discussed what they wanted from their new system. We went away and drew up a couple of proposals and sent them to the church. Once approved, we got to work!
The front projector screen was replaced for an 86 inch TV which meant no more projector pole coming out from the wall obscuring the view and also a much brighter image. We upgraded the rear screens from 24 inch to 32 inch, installed a new screen for the band, the organist, fitted a 50 inch screen for the minister to see from the front at the side and also an HDMI output at the front to allow for a temporary screen to be set up if required. We also ran a new HDMI link to the café to allow people passing by to watch the service without needing to come into the church itself.
The old PA system was completely removed from the church and a new one was put in within a week. The new system consisted of two 8" DAP Audio speakers flown from the front two arches where the previous ones had been situated, two smaller 5" DAP Audio speaker further down the church and an audio link to the café into a separate amplifier which gave multipurpose use to the area allowing for a separate source of music to be played or the service to be relayed into the café.
Additional works consisted of fitting a brand new hearing loop system as well as fitting XLR sockets and ports into the existing lecterns meaning microphone stands were no longer required in front of them complimenting the aesthetics at the front. Another requirement from the church was to have a custom AV desk sourced to house the new equipment. Through our dedicated supplier, we were able to offer the church a bespoke AV desk finished in real wood veneer matched closely to the existing pew colours.
Controlling the system is a Behringer X32 system which is linked to an SD16 stage box at the front of the church enclosed in a custom varnished wooden box to blend in with the church décor. This system gives the church a whole range of features such as individual control of each audio send, advanced EQ control of each individual channel, recording of services to USB and much more.
With most new installations, we were present for the first service using the new system to fine tune elements and offer support with its first use. The difference was immediately noticed by many both visually and audibly.
